  1. Has anyone got Wireless N to work on the HTC Desire? Does it even support it because if I look at the “About Phone” it says b/g/n but I cannot get this to work? Any custom roms that will enable Wireless N?

    Thanks!!!

  2. Big fan of these roms and installed a few. Any plans for ICS?

  3. Man this site rocks. So straightforward and easy to follow.

A fresh ROM is just as good as getting a new phone!

Thanks for putting in the time with this site.

  4. I have just installed, which wasn’t tough as I thought it would be. The tutorials helped me out a lot.
one thing I did notice after I installed T-Mod LeeDrOiD (Gingerbread), every time I do a complete reboot the set time icon comes up and I have to re-pick my time zone. is this common or did I miss a step, or even my be it was a bad install.

    • I have never had to set my time zone with any rom install, usually just sets the time zone using my location and gets the time from the phone network.

      • hmm strange, maybe I have a bad install or DL. When I first install Gingerbread I got several error message (can’t remember what it was called) ending in a .com. after they had stopped I did several full reboots and only a few error message came up, but thats when I noticed the set time zone icon popping up. I was able to get these error messages up by trying to access spare parts app and also coin toss or something like that.
I have gone back to the original Nand back-up I preformed before loading on Gingerbread.. I’ll have another go on the weekend.

  5. Got a new question for you guys, I bought a BlaeAnt S4 Hands Free for the car, the HTC Desire is using the your LeeDroid v3 rom, since pairing the BlueAnt to the Desire we have come across a problem where soon after they are disconnected from each other either the phone will crash and reboot. I have been trying to find an exact pattern to see when and why it’s happening but it usualy catches us by surprise and we hear the R2D2 sound from the phone reboot. Happens every day since pairing these two together. Cause my wife now uses the that phone I don’t always have it on hand to experiment with. But anyone here want to help find what is the cause and see if it can be fixed. My wife says that she believes the phone resets anywhere upto 30 min after being disconnected from the blueant.
What things can I try to maybe reproduce the problem so we can gather some info what might be the cause.

  6. I have tried for hours to get this to work without success. Unrevoke starts with the process & doesn’t progress past the first stage. I have installed the drivers successfully & everything as per the TMod tutorials, but no joy. I’m the first to admit I’m no tech-head but I can usually follow instructions ok. What could I be doing wrong?

  7. Well since Flashing the HTC Desire with your rom it’s has been a million times better to use then it was with the Telstra junk on it. Anyhow, time come to give the phone over to the misses since it was ment for her. I followed a trand of friends who bought the Samsung Galaxy S2, not knowing much about the model apart from it using Android I went and bought one. I find I am a little disappointed with the look and feel of the desktop input, its so close to a clone of the iphone its not funny. Personally I hate it, not sure if it can be changed to look like the HTC did. There are some things on it I cant do yet, like I had widgets for turning wifi and mobile internet off/on, well I got wifi widget there but can’t get a mobile internet widget, nor can I get an airplane widget or sound profile widget, these basic things i use which were each to put on the HTC are not there on the S2 for me. I hope you guys or someone you know come up with something for the S2 some time in the future. I am not sure if the Galaxy S2 was a good choice for me, I don’t suppose anyone know which of the HTC models have hardware specs that equal the Galaxy S2 ?.. Maybe I might flog this on off and get something else.

  8. Hey there, I was using your mod on my HTC Desire a while back, but now I have a HTC Sensation. I was wondering if you could answer a question…
if you type *#*#4636#*#* in the dialler, you get to the test menu for setting different radio options. Can you please tell me what I should set for the sensation when on telstra – (should be the same for the desire.)

    *#*#4636#*#*, then select phone settings…
Here are two settings I need, one is the Preferred network type (options like cdma, gsm, wcdma etc) and the other comes up if you press menu while in here and then “select radio band” – it asks you to set the gsm/umts band….
there are geographic locations, however for australia there is AUS1 and AUS2

It would be nice if they gave us a little more detail on that…. oh well.. Love it it you or anyone else ca help…

    Warmly, Marty

    • Pretty sure GSM should be your preferred network type and for band I know I used to use AUS2 on the Desire when I first got it.

  9. @ozjubb
I don’t think you’ll have any luck with that :( The APNs make no difference. I tried entering every combination in the 2.5.0 ROM. I think the LeeDroid ROM is faulty.

It’s a shame because as good the the GB ROMS are, the texting is dodgy and the LED doesn’t work correctly.

    • For anyone using Leedroid 2.5.0, I spent ages trying to figure out how to get the MMS working.

To fix the problem download the LargerMMS-Telstra.zip file from the xda-developers forums (link below).

I copied the zip file onto my desire, did a factory reset, installed the zip file and rebooted. MMS is working again!!!

      Cheers!

  10. Gingerbread is working like a dream, once I cleared all the non optus related APNs the MMS worked. I did have to change a few bits in the APN to work with TPG. Like the mobile internet uses just the word internet instead of the yesinternet which was in there, and for mms I never had a proxy enter, the optus tech I spoke to one night recently said it wasnt needed, but I left the proxy in there that was in the t-mod gingerbread and mms i recon works better now, at least faster and no so many connection errors. Great work on this one.

  11. @skozzy
if you look at the title it says T-Mod HD Port
a port is when you modify it to work on another device…

if you want to run android by itself check out http://www.roms-au.com

they have a few Sense roms and vanilla-ish roms

  12. Might be a silly question, but will the T-Mod HD work on a normal Desire ?. Also since I was having issues with the Froyo upgrade with MMS I went back to the original Telstra backup and MMS is working again. I am still downloading Gingerbread, so once that is done I can try it out. And can someone maybe give me a link to what would be a factory image, one that’s never been tweeked. I wouldnt mind having a go of it to see what HTC offered with a Fresh phone thats never been nuked with add-ons from providers.

    • No questions are silly!
Yes, this is a port of the Desire HD ROM to run on the standard Desire. I just gave it a test run today and its very nice and smooth.

  13. I can’t get MMS to send or receive with the Froyo ROM. The Gingerbread ROM and Cyanogenmod7 both work fine.

    • I have checked the ROM and the configuration is correct, I know others have reported the problem with this in the past, I have changed the APN file in the rom tonight to try and rectify the problem. I suggest trying one of the GB roms as I know that the MMS works correctly in those.

  14. the menu never displayed, i pulled the battery out, and when I plugged it in the menu was on the screen ready to go

  15. Ok, its done, all working, its much better not seeing the telstra splash screen and all their bloatware. Thanks guys, awesome work, thanks for doing it all.

    • There is hardly any Telstra bloatware on the HTC Desire. Mostly just webpage links and a 270K Foxtel app. Most of the rubbish that you want to get rid of is HTC stuff.

      • True, but still some people don’t like the Telstra links in there app list that cannot be removed easily, it would be fine if they were apps but they are not they are bookmarks to websites and should have been listed in bookmarks for the browser on the phone not put in to appear as apps.

The T-Mod roms have moved on from being a way to get rid of the Telstra links to being localised versions of popular ROMs for the HTC Desire.

  16. Press the back button and one of the clockwork options is reboot now

  17. Radio Install, Rom installed, then it says reboot via menu, only there is no menu. Should I wait or pull the battery and reinstall then power up ?

  18. I took a break and come back to re-read and see I misread a step, it was when I was getting the errors about missing paths that I overlooked or misread some parts. I think I am back on track, almost up the radio and rom install.

  19. Im am stuck, I rooted the phone with UnRevoked, then some backups with Titianium Backup, then I used AlphaRev, then made a backup to the MicroSD card of the system and data. I installed the rom manager but it wont create the ext3 partition, I get errors about paths missing on ext3. Anyhow, should that problem be resolved ?. I downloaded the LeeDrOid image but can’t see the steps needed to install it. Unless I have been reading too long and only see jibberish now. So the SD-EXT partitions listed on the guide here are not working for me. Largest option for size I get is 512mb not 1024mb, even so it wont create them from inside clockwork. I bet I just missed some important step.

  20. Thanks, I have rooted the phone first time. So now I will try one of the first two.

  21. How do i tell which of the links above I should use. I have my phone plan with TPG which uses the Optus network. The phone I have is branded with the telstra boot screen and is preloaded with telstra junk I want to get rid of.

    • All these ROM’s are suitable. The left picture is the original Leedroid-Froyo so is closeest to your original phone without the junk. The middle one is Leeedroid Gingerbread – much better than the original ROM. The right one is Gingerbread HD – fancier still but not quite as stable.
